Touch Screen is a continuation of the Brzezinski-Scorese foray into nontraditional intimacies (Sexless Pornos, Ice Cold Kisses). Beginning with the centuries-old tradition of New England fishermen’s wives weaving nets, this short piece works to unravel the tensions between how intimacy is expressed verses how it is experienced by appropriating the gestus of Western “Romance” and serving it through class-anxious domesticity. Touch Screen is a conjuring of boundaries, borders, webs, and oceanic voices to close the distance between us.
Created and executed with Allison Brzezinski.
Presented as part of the 6th Online Performance Art Festival, December 2nd, 2017.
